La Municipalidad local como integrante del Pacto Global de Alcaldes por el Clima y la Energía, iniciativa global que forma parte del Programa Internacional de Cooperación Urbana para América Latina y el Caribe (IUC-LAC), de la Unión Europea, reconoció a Bell Ville y otras nueve ciudades argentinas más, por su trabajo contra el Cambio Climático.
El reconocimiento se hizo en el marco del Pacto Global y en la reunión de representantes de gobiernos locales, regionales y nacionales de Argentina, Brasil y Paraguay, llevada a cabo del 21 al 23 de este mes en Corrientes, por el cuarto taller de capacitación para ciudades firmantes que imparte la Unión Europea.
Con aporte técnico del Centro Común de Investigación (JRC) de la Unión Europea, las jornadas tuvieron el objetivo el intercambio de experiencias y la capacitación de ciudades en el diseño de su Plan de Acción Climática y de Energía Sostenible, documento que describe las actuaciones de las urbes en materia de mitigación y adaptación climática.
En dicho taller y con la presencia del intendente de la ciudad anfitriona, Eduardo Tassano, se concretó el encuentro de reconocimiento a las municipalidades de Argentina firmantes del Pacto que ya han presentado sus planes de acción climática. Estas son: Monte Buey, Godoy Cruz, Caseros, Camilo Aldao, Venado Tuerto, Bell Ville, Villa General Belgrano, San Antonio de Areco, Chacabuco y Arteaga. Estas diez ciudades son las primeras en América Latina en presentar su estudio que fue validado a nivel internacional por el JRC.
