En la inauguración del nuevo periodo legislativo del Concejo Deliberativo de este año, el intendente Dr. Carlos Briner destacó los puntos claves para avanzar en materia de medio ambiente como la planta de clorado de las lagunas sanitarias, el vertedero regional, la reestructuración en el sistema de recolección de residuos, la venta de reciclables, la limpieza de basurales clandestinos, la adquisición de luminarias led, el plan de Forestación 2030 y las tareas del Vivero Municipal.
El Dr. Briner resaltó principalmente la construcción de la cámara de clorado como una de las obras más importante que se ejecutará en materia de saneamiento, después de más de 10 años sin inversiones. La realización de la misma tendrá una inversión de $12.000.000 con fondos municipales. “Es una obra imprescindible para toda la zona urbana, ya que sin ella, el desarrollo tendrá serios inconvenientes para la calidad de vida de los vecinos”, remarcó.
La creación del vertedero regional fue otros de los puntos destacados en el discurso del jefe municipal señalando que se está aguardando un crédito internacional del BID gestionado en conjunto por la Comunidad Regional Unión. Vale recordar que en su momento, el municipio cedió un amplio terreno para el funcionamiento de uno de los dos vertederos regionales de residuos sólidos urbanos con los que contarán todas las poblaciones del Departamento Unión. Además aseguró que “el proyecto permitirá, entre otros beneficios, el cierre definitivo del basural a cielo abierto al Norte de la ciudad”.
También mencionó la reestructuración en el sistema de recolección de residuos, que logró triplicar la cantidad de residuos secos recolectados semanalmente. Por otra parte, presentó el informe sobre la compra de 208 luminarias led para el alumbrado público a través del Fideicomiso de la Red Argentina de Municipios Frente al Cambio Climático, RAMCC.
En lo referente al Plan de Forestación 2030, afirmó que se propuso duplicar la cantidad de árboles en la ciudad lográndose distribuir, en plena pandemia, 550 ejemplares a frentistas.
