Bell Ville, contó desde el siglo XIX con una gran diversidad de instituciones educativas. En el libro “Aportes a la historia de los 100 años de Bell Ville ciudad”, publicado por el Centro Municipal de Estudios Históricos de Bell Ville, se narra la historia de la Escuela Superior de Comercio Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, una de nuestras prestigiosas y queridas instituciones educativas.
En la asamblea del 26 de abril de 1936 se resuelve que se creará un Instituto de Estudios Secundarios, para lo cual se decide alquilar un local. Es denominado “Instituto Secundario Sarmiento” funcionando en la calle Buenos Aires 136 (hoy Pío Angulo) en casa del Dr. Cabrera Rebollo y luego en calle Florida (hoy Córdoba) en una propiedad del Dr. Stivala.
Su creación se debió a la imperante necesidad de Peritos Mercantiles que eran en esa época auxiliares técnicos en lo Jurídico Contable y Comercial.
En 1945 por Resolución del Consejo Superior, el Instituto comienza a funcionar en el edificio de la Escuela Terminal (hoy Florentino Ameghino) en calle Entre Ríos 457, siendo su primer director Francisco de la Arena.
En 1956 pasa a denominarse Escuela Superior de Comercio “Domingo Faustino Sarmiento” y en 1974 se concluyó la construcción de edificio propio en los predios del ex Prado Español, ubicado en Av. Faustino Molina 69, ampliando sus instalaciones en 1998, contando en la actualidad con tres turnos diarios. Se denomina IPEM N.° 140 “Domingo Faustino Sarmiento”, con C.B.U en cada turno.
Su propuesta educativa: Orientación en Economía y Gestión de las Organizaciones, con especialidad en Gestión Administrativa.
Desde el año 2006 se incorpora la Especialidad en Turismo, Hotelería y Transporte en el turno tarde, atendiendo a una demanda de la ciudad. En 2013, la orientación Turismo fue reemplazada por la especialidad de Arte Multimedia.
Con 84 o 75 años, según la fecha que se adopte de su nacimiento, es una entidad consolidada en la ciudad en lo educativo y cultural, formadora de varias generaciones de bellvillenses y orgullo de un Bell Ville que se nutre de sus egresados.
La Municipalidad se asocia a este festejo y saluda a toda la gran comunidad educativa del Comercial, como así también a todos aquellos que en su corazón guardan los mejores recuerdos del querido Comercial.
