El 20 de julio del año 1880, se habilitó oficialmente el Cementerio San Gerónimo. El poder municipal a cargo del Pbro. Rubén Márquez, consigue para el municipio la responsabilidad de su administración, que era ejercida por la Iglesia Católica.
