Mediante un Decreto del Intendente, Dr. Carlos Briner, se promulgó la Ordenanza Municipal Nº 2.210-2018 por la cual se coloca un banco de color rojo en la Plaza 25 de Mayo con la inscripción “En memoria de todas las mujeres asesinadas por quien decía amarlas”.
La acción forma parte del proyecto “Banco Rojo”, incluido en el marco de las actividades de lucha contra la violencia de género y su objetivo es llamar a la reflexión con este símbolo que representa un emblema universal del lugar ocupado por una mujer víctima del femicidio y así sensibilizar a la ciudadanía en general y a la juventud en particular.
El banco rojo es una propuesta de comunicación y prevención, ya que el desenlace fatal es evitable si la violencia se detecta y detiene a tiempo.
